Fibre-optic illuminating and viewing device, especially for observing dental canals (16), comprising, in a single casing, an annular multifibre illuminating element (20) and, along the axis of the latter, a multicore observation fibre (22), characterised in that the distal ends of the terminal cutting planes (20) of the illuminating fibre and of the viewing fibre (24) are spaced apart along the axis of the system so that the multicore observation fibre (22) stands out by a certain length with respect to the distal end of the illuminating fibre (20).
