PURPOSE:To provide a high-capacity and high-reliability nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. CONSTITUTION:A compound LixMn2O4 (1<=X<=2) or LixCoO2 (1<X<=3) treated using lithium acetylide-ethylene diamine complex solution or lithium acetylide- propylene diamine complex solution and beforehand occluded thereinto with lithium is used as a positive electrode active material. Between a positive electrode plate 1 and a negative electrode plate 2 is interposed a porous polypropylene made separator 3 having a width larger than that of each of the negative and positive electrodes, the resulting arrangement being subjected to spiral winding of line material. With polypropylene made insulative plates 6, 7 being disposed respectively at a top and a bottom of the mentioned electrode assembly, the resulting assembly is inserted into a battery jar 8. Then, by inwardly bending the side portion of the battery jar 8, a stepped portion 81 is formed at an upper portion of the battery jar 8. Thereafter, an electrolyte is injected into the battery jar which is in turn closed by a sealing plate 9. The complexes are treatable in a dry air and thus enables obtaining a battery having a large capacity and small variation in the capacity, and in addition enables reducing the manufacturing cost. |
