PURPOSE:To suppress the excessive temperature rise of a heating element portion corresponding to a paper nonfeeding section, prevent the futile heat from being applied to the no-image section of a recording material at a paper feeding section, and effectively use electric power as an image heat fixing type image forming device. CONSTITUTION:A heating means is a fixing device bringing a recording material into close contact with a film, moving it to pass through the position of a heating element 1 together with the film, and giving the heat energy to the recording material from the heating element 1 via the film, the heating element 1 has an exciting/heating layer 4 excited from both end sections of the longitudinal direction crossing the shift direction of the recording material, it has branch cable ways 4a-4d branched at preset multiple positions in the middle along the longitudinal direction of the exciting/heating layer 4 and selectively excited and controlled, and the branch cable way to be excited and controlled among the multiple branch cable ways 4a-4d of the heating element 1 is determined based on the size information 17f of the recording material used in the device and the image multiplication information 17d selected and specified in the device. |
