The invention relates to inflatable packages (1) characterised in that the package walls, whose shape is to be adapted to the product (2) to be packaged, are directly inflatable without the use of an external envelope. The inflatable packages will find applications in the packaging, containing or protection of objects or products of industry, commerce of or household consumption. The inflatable packages are adaptable to numerous shapes or volumes of products. The inflatable packages have numerous technical possibilities such as: - effective protection from shocks and goods-handling operations, - packaging and wedging of various products by shape or volume in one and the same type of standard inflatable package, - display of the product by transparency, - packaging functions - wedging and closure, for example of the self-locking type (4) achievable during inflation. The use of air as main constituent of the inflatable package, whose air cushion generates an effective protection, is advantageous for the protection of the environment and for the low storage and transportation volume of the inflatable package before its use or for its retrieval or recycling after use. <IMAGE>
