PURPOSE:To newly register map information on a new road, etc., which is not recorded into a map and to making a display matching the map thereafter automatically by registering new road information according to information from a position detector and reading it out. CONSTITUTION:A controller 2 which recognizes the current position of an automobile by a position detector 1 consisting of a vehicle speed sensor, an azimuth sensor, etc., reads the map of the corresponding area output of a map reader 3 and displays the map and a mark indicating the current position on a display device 4. If, however, there is the road which is not registered in the map and the automobile is on the road, a console panel 5 is operated to select new registration. As the automobile travels on the new road, the information on the new road is obtained according to the information from the position detector 1 and stored in a storage device 6. Then when this road is read out, the newly registered map information from the storage device 6 is displayed together over the map from the map reader 3. |
