PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity by incorporating a specified compd. capable of releasing a photographically useful group under regulable timing. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of compd. represented by the formula is incorporated. In the formula, R1 is alkyl, R2 is alkyl or aryl, R3 is oxycarbonyl, sulfonamido, carbamoyl, acylamino, ureido, oxycarbonylamino, sulfonyloxy, carbonyloxy or sulfamoyl, R4 is a substituent n is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and X is a group which forms o- or p-quinonemethide and releases a development retarder or a precursor thereof when released by coupling with the oxidized body of a developing agent.
