<p>PURPOSE:To prevent an accident such as the traveling stoppage of a magnetic tape due to deterioration by detecting the degree of the deterioration in a tape used in a magnetic recording and reproducing device. CONSTITUTION:A service time detecting device 21 is disposed at a position where the device is in contact with the magnetic tape so as to be under the side pressure by the tension of the tape 2 and the degree of the deterioration in the traveling magnetic tape 2 is detected by the changing in the coefficient of friction between the service life detecting device 21 and the magnetic tape 2.</p> |
