Anti-theft device for identification and indelible and tamper-proof marking of a surface, more particularly electronic cards. It consists of a very hard ceramic plate, on which is etched, with the aid of a laser, the name of the owner of the card as well as a unique serial number (3) per card (1). This insulating plate is bonded (4) directly onto the copper tracks (2) of the card (1). The layer of glue (4) has the effect of reacting with the layer of varnish (5) thus allowing perfect adhesion of the assembly. In the event of the plate being pulled off, the electronic card would be completely destroyed, on the one hand by the damage caused to the card (1) and the tracks (2) so as to get a grip on the plate, and, on the other hand, due to the fact that the tracks (2) tear off with the plate. This device is intended essentially to discourage theft of electronic cards and of electronic equipment in general, to inhibit the use of this material individually or its resale on the second-hand equipment market. <IMAGE>
