<p>PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device capable of smoother transition between reproducing modes by detecting the change of recording modes in advance when a connecting part between different modes is reproduced at the time of reproducing. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a reproduction only control head 4 disposed in the input side of a rotary drum 2, a mode discriminating circuit 26 discriminating the recording mode based on a control signal reproduced from a magnetic tape by the reproduction only control head 4 and a FG pulse from a FG head 24 detecting the rotating speed of a capstan motor 28 and a control circuit 27 changing and controlling the rotating speed of the capstan motor 28 based, on the output of the mode discriminating circuit 26.</p> |
