BUFFER MANAGEMENT METHOD FOR RECEIVER

PURPOSE:To relieve the load when packets of different sequence are managed by storing sequential data and non sequential data to separate memories so as to reduce a memory access time in the case of distribution to a host in the receiver of packet exchange communication. CONSTITUTION:A data packet analyzer 3 recognizes a context and a sequence number specifying a sender and a receiver of an incoming data packet. After a data part and a header part of the packet are separated, when the packet is a sequential packet, a management table 401 of a reception buffer management equipment 4 arranges physically the data part of the incoming packet and stores it to a memory in which data are written up to just preceding part in a memory block corresponding to the context of the data packet. When the packet is not the sequential packet, the data are stored in a different memory or stored in the memory whose addresses are managed for the non- sequential packet memory.
