<p>Apparatus for harnessing and utilizing, inter alia, cyclic forces generated at a location eccentric from the axis of rotation of a rolling wheel. In one embodiment a pump is attached to a valve stem (38) for delivering pressurized air in duct (37) generated by a piston (31) reciprocating in a cylinder (32) while mechanically connected by rod (44) to an intensifier piston (47) that reciprocates in a cylinder (48) against an air cushion under control by valve (51). The connection between the piston (31) and the intensifier piston is a lever (69) according to a further embodiment. In another embodiment, bellows (89 and 91) are connected to cushion reciprocating movement of air pumping cylinder (92). In yet a further embodiment, a piston (14) is guided by a linear bearing (31) for reciprocating movement of piston rods (18 and 20) to pressurize air in cylinders (20A and 24A). In a still further embodiment, the intensifier piston takes the form of an elongated piston (46) having piston members at opposite ends that reciprocates in a cylinder (44) to deliver pressurized air through reed valves (54 and 56) which is delivered to the valve stem (40) of a pneumatic tire.</p> |
