The packing carton has, in the area of at least one folded lid edge, (14) two mirror symmetrical cuts (15,16) set at a distance (a) of at least half the length of the folded edge. These cuts start in the folded-over extension (10) of the side wall (6) and extend over the folded edge into the associated side wall. The free ends are connected together in the carton by folded grooves parallel to the folded edge. The cuts can run at right angles or other than right angles from the folded edge. USE - After the box is open the user can press between the cuts so that the lid flap can be folded down in this section allowing easy access to the bottom of the box.
