The two compensating shafts (4) of the engine are driven from the end of the crankshaft (2) on the side of the flywheel ladder frame. This is fixed on the flanges (7) at the free ends of the crank housing aprons (6) whereby the compensating weights and ladder frame are pref. mounted in the middle between the crankshaft and crankshaft bearing. The ladder frame can have two longitudinal supports (9) parallel to the crankshaft axis and connecting supports (10) in the area of the crankshaft bearing (3). The connecting supports are rigidly attached go the longitudinal supports and together have a U-section open towards an oil trough (11). USE/ADVANTAGE - Reciprocating IC engine with vibrations suppressed through the ladder frame and the front area of the crank housing can be narrow allowing attachment of other units.
