The transmission control unit includes at least one light responsive sensor (5, 6), and adjusts the filter element (8) to different transmission values, in inverse proportion to the intensity of the light falling on the sensor or sensors (5, 6). The sensor(s) which control the filter element are provided with screening pieces (10) which screen the interference light falling on at least one side. The screening piece (50) is arranged so that the interference light falling at an angle below a determined angle is screened. A platelet (50a) is applied with its central drilling (51) coinciding with the centre of the sensor or sensors. ADVANTAGE - Interference light kept away from light responsive sensor(s) for transmission control by screening.
