<p>A cord lock device (40) of unitary construction has a body of resilient material and a slit (50) through the center thereof that defines two cord gripping surfaces (52a, 52b). A cord or cords (30a, 30b) threaded through the slit (50) are securely engaged by a clamping effect at the slit (50) and surface friction between the cords (30a, 30b) and the gripping surfaces (52a, 52b) of the slit (50). The clamping effect results from pressure being applied to the base of the cord lock device (40) by the article to which the cords (30a, 30b) are attached. One releases the cords (30a, 30b) by squeezing with the fingers the exterior sides (72a, 72b) of the cord lock body, being perpendicular to the slit (50). This causes the slit (50) to pucker and thus spread the slit walls (52a, 52b).</p> |
