The compact-disc player has a read-write memory (31) pref. a FIFO RAM to store data blocks temporarily. The memory is located in the data processing path between the A/D converter at the input of the signal processing unit and the D/A converter at the output of the unit. A repositioning device resets the scanning optics after a track jump. A synchronising device synchronises the start of storage after repositioning the scanning optics with the end of storage before the track jump. The memory is connected via a digital filter to the input of the D/A converter.
