CHIRAL GLUTARATE ESTERS, THEIR RESOLUTION AND DERIVED GLUTARIMIDE COMPOUNDS

Enantiomers of chiral compounds such as 3-ethyl-3-(4-pyridyl)piperidine-2,6-dione (Rogletimide) are prepared by cyclising the corresponding diesters such as diethyl 2-ethyl-2-(4-pyridyl)glutarate which themselves are prepared by enantiospecific biotransformation of the racemic diester.
