The light metal wheel is for a passenger car. It has an outer flange and an inner flange joined by a fastener in a bore (32,27). The head and shank of the fastener are made from a titanium alloy. The shaft has a number of small grooves onto which is pressed a cylindrical sleeve made from an aluminium alloy to create a fastening of the tension pull type. USE/ADVANTAGE - Construction of light metal vehicle wheel which overcomes problems of corrosion and weight associated with nut and bolt fastenings.
