Organooxy-chloro- and -bromosilanes R1aSi(OR2)bX(4-a-b) (I) contg. alkoxy, alkenyloxy or aryloxy gp(s). are prepd. by reacting organohalosilanes (II) with alcohols or phenols (III) in the presence of a small amt. of an amine (IV) as catalyst. In (I), X is Cl or Br; R1 and R2 each are 1-4C alk(en)yl or opt. substd. 6-8C aryl; a is 0 and b is 1 or 2, or a is 1 and b is 1, or a is 2 and b is 1. Pref. (IV) is NEt3.
