<p>There is disclosed an electronic data and drive circuit for a multi-laser thermal printer. The circuit provides data and drive signals for the individual laser channels of the print head of the printer. Because the laser channels are closely spaced to obtain ultra-fine detail in a printed image (e.g., 1800 lines per inch), only a narrow portion of an image (termed a swath) is printed at a time. The printed image which finally results consists of multiple "swaths" printed closely alongside each other. To eliminate visually objectionable lines (i.e., printing artifacts) where one swath joins another in the printed image, a pair of "dummy" laser channels in the print head are driven with combined or "AND"-ed data provided by the circuitry. <IMAGE></p> |
