In an active suspension actuator (10), a piston and rod subassembly (12) is reciprocally mounted in a piston tube subassembly (14). A transfer tube (130) is concentrically mounted in the rod (20) and is in fluid communication with a pressurized source (19) of fluid. A solenoid valve subassembly (18) provides real-time damping of relatively high frequency inputs by opening and closing a bypass channel (134) formed in the actuator (10). Relatively low frequency inputs are actively controlled as fluid passes to and from the pressurized source (19) of fluid.
