PURPOSE:To obtain a low-pollution pulp molding material showing improved shock-absorbing properties without using a large amount of a binder and useful as a packing material, etc., by heating and expanding a composition containing a pulp which may be a recycled pulp from recovered waste paper, a binder and a foaming agent. CONSTITUTION:A pulp such as a regenerated pulp from recovered waste paper, a binder composed of an emulsion type ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, etc., and a foaming agent such as azodicarbonamide are dispersed and mixed to prepare a composition. The resultant composition is heated and expanded at 170 deg.C for 5 min to obtain the objective pulp molding material having a structure containing, after expansion, remarkably grown spaces 2a in the matrix part 1 although only flat voids 2 scatteringly existed in the matrix part 1 of the composition before expansion, capable of remarkably reducing compression stress and showing improved shock-absorbing properties. In addition, the amount of the foaming agent added is preferably 1-20wt.% based on the binder. |
