PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance or the like of a sintering material at a high temp., in a sintering material for a tool constituted of hard perticulate matters of cubic BN or the like and a metallic compound series bonding phase by preliminarily coating the hard perticulate matters with a film contg. metals in the bonding phase components. CONSTITUTION:Hard perticulate matters 1 of cubic boron nitride, diamond or the like and bonding phase component 3 selected from the nitrides, borides and carbides of metallic elements or their combined compounds (e.g. TiN) are prepd. Then, the hard perticulate matters 1 are coated with a film 2 of the same components as the bonding phase components (e.g. TiN film) or is coated with a film 2 of a compound other than that of the metallic elements in the bonding phase components. Next, the hard perticulate matters 1 coated with the film 2 and the bonding phase components 3 are mixed to manufacture a sintering material for a tool. In this way, because the surface of the hard perticulate matters 1 is coated with the film 2, the adhesion between the hard perticulate matters 1 and the bonding phase 3 improves, and as a result, its sinterbility improves, by which a cutting tool or the like to be manufactured shows high wear resistance. |
