PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium applicable to an optical pickup using a laser which can record with high density, by making a compound represented by a specific general formula contained in an organic thin film. CONSTITUTION:An organic thin film is formed on a substrate directly or via an undercoat layer, and a protecting layer is formed on the organic thin film upon necessities, thereby obtaining this optical data recording medium. At least one kind of compounds represented by a formula I (A is a formula VII or VIII, R1, R2 are hydrogen atoms or the like, R3, R4, R5, are aryl groups or the like, X is an acid anion, (n) is 1 or 2 and (l), (m) are integers 0-4), a formula II (R1-R4 are nitrocyano groups or the like, X is an acid anion, and L is a methine group or the like), formulae III-V (R1, R2, R4, R5, R7, R8, are substituted or unsubstituted aromatic rings or the like, R3 is halogen or the like, R6, R9 are chalcogens elements), a formula VI (R1-R4 are carboxyl groups or the like, X is an acid anion) is contained in the organic thin film. This recording medium is applicable to a pickup sing a 630-700nm laser which can record with high density. |
