PURPOSE:To obtain a recording sheet for ink jet printer, etc., having excellent ink absorbing characteristics, printing qualities and water resistance by providing the surface of a substrate with a coating layer comprising a water-dispersible polymer, colloidal silica connected in a chained state and a water-soluble polymer. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially orientated film of polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate is subjected to corona discharge treatment, at least one side of a polyester film is coated with a coating agent comprising a water-dispersible polymer such as acrylic polymer emulsion, colloidal silica connected in a chained state and/or in a branched state and 10 % aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol by metering bar method and provide with a coated layer having 5g/m<2> dried film thickness to give a recording sheet having high picture image density, clear color tone of picture image, excellent ink absorbing characteristics and excellent water resistance. |
