PURPOSE:To provide a shading method and device capable of simply shading a graphic at inexpensive calculation cost in the case of forming a solid graphic by means of two-dimensional graphics. CONSTITUTION:A plotting processing part 16 forms a graphic to be shaded based upon graphic information stored in a graphic information storing part 11. A coordinate value conversion part 12 checks and rearranges the arrangement of a vertex string of the graphic. The plotting processing part 16 displays the graphic by a wire frame format. A normal vector calculating part 13 determines the normal vectors of respective faces to be shaded from respective coordinate value of the graphic. A light vector calculating part 14 determines light vectors based upon the positions of respective faces and the position of a light source. A lightness information calculating part 15 determines the lightness of respective faces based upon angles formed by the normal vectors and the light vectors. The processing part 16 fills the areas of respective faces based upon the lightness information. The graphed filled with dots is developed in an image memory 19. |
