The method according to the invention consists in: - obtaining a lowering of the level of oil under pressure in the delivery pipe (1) by a branch (2) or by using such a tap-off made as a precaution, - introducing at least one flexible and expandable balloon (3) into the pipe, which balloon is capable of expanding to a diameter greater than the internal diameter of the pipe, - inflating the said balloon by means of a fluid supply sleeve with which it is fitted, which blocks the balloon and closes the pipe. <IMAGE>
