PURPOSE:To prevent the image density of a reference pattern toner image from receiving an adverse effect caused by fluctuations in a latent image by setting two modes in accordance with the number of copies, and selecting these modes according as the number of consecutive copies is a prescribed value or more, or not. CONSTITUTION:This image forming device adopts a constitution that a bias voltage is applied in the development of a reference pattern when the latent image formed on a photosensitive body according to the reference pattern used for image density control, is developed and visualized, has a first mode composed of steps 34-36 in which a reference pattern forming means producing the reference pattern forms the reference pattern toner image based on the number of the copies after a consecutive copying action is started, and a second mode composed of steps 23-27 for forming the next reference pattern toner image based on the number of the copies at the time of forming the last reference pattern toner image, and uses the first mode when the number of the consecutive copies is a prescribed number or more, and the second mode when the number of the consecutive copies is the prescribed number or below, to form the image of the reference pattern. |
