The method for producing cigarette filters consisting of two segments, one of them is refined with organic substances and possible with a metal oxide, and the other one is made of a raw material, or for producing three-segment cigarette filters with an insert added between the segments, consisting in that acetate or polypropylene filtration material is coated with fine ground refining substances, single or in compositions, of grain-size below 0.5 mm, especially such as powdered tobacco, tobacco dust, roasted cacao bean husk, litter of conifer needles, activated charcoal from stones of fruit trees and bark, magnesium peroxide can be added optionally, and the total quantity of such refining substances is between 1g to 20g/m2 of the filtration material, and in the case of corrugated paper, before coating that paper with refining substances, it is conditioned by humidifying to 7 up to 10 per cent humidity, while in the case of the three-segment filter production, the intersegment insert is filled with a refining substance in the quantity of 0.01 to 0.05 g.<IMAGE>
