PURPOSE:To enable a driver to easily which road the driver should travel on by drawing intersection shapes which are different in width corresponding to the width of the road. CONSTITUTION:Once a starting point and a destination are set, a guidance path searching art 15 refers to map data on a CD-ROM 1 to search for the best guidance path, which is stored in a guidance path memory 16. After a guided intersection search part 17 searches for a specific guidance object intersection present on the guidance path in front of the vehicle in its travel direction, a distance calculation part 18 finds the distance between the vehicle position and guidance object intersection and an intersection guidance image drawing part 19 calculates the intersection shape which is different in width by the widths of roads and an arrow which is superimposed thereupon and indicates a travel direction from the node of the guidance object intersection, the intersection constitution node of the intersection, and width data on respective intersection constitution node-guidance object intersection roads and draws them on a 2V-RAM 21, thereby displaying an intersection guidance image on the screen of a display device 4. |
