The container for free-flowing bulk material has a closed inner chamber (9) connected via an opening (11) to a discharge passage (10). The opening is at the bottom of the chamber and passage, and is preceded by a barrier (12) inside the chamber. When pouring out the material, the barrier divides it into a batch flowing through the opening into the passage, and one which remains behind in the container. The volume of the batch delivered can be varied by altering the cross-section of the opening, while the barrier height can be equal to the maximum possible opening height. ADVANTAGE - Low cost and simple to use.
