PURPOSE:To provide a device capable of displaying also the transfer of peripheral articles due to reflection or refraction executed by ray tracking while utilizing the constitutional elements of a plotting system based upon a Z-buffer method. CONSTITUTION:This graphic display device is constituted of a visual point 9 for retrieving an object to be displayed, a visual field setting part 8 for setting up the position of the visual point 9 and its visual angle, a data management part 1 for generally managing the characteristic data and visual field information of the object to be displayed, a coordinate determining part 3 for determining the positions of the object and the visual point 9 on a three-dimensional coordinate axis, a clipping part 4 for judging graphics existing in the range of the visual angle and on the outside and erasing the graphics on the outside of the visual angle range, a picture element developing part 5 for forming a list of picture elements covered with left graphics, a hidden-surface erasing part 6 for erasing picture elements existing on positions not to be observed from the visual point 9 out of the picture elements written in the list, and a brightness calculating part 8 for calculating the brightness of all the remaining picture elements. |
