The cleaner for the inside of a pipe, e.g. a fresh water conduit or drainpipe, has two rotary brushes (41a,41b) which operate on sections of the pipe's inner surface which lie diametrically opposite one another. THe brushes are cylindrical in shape, with a diameter smaller than the internal diameter of the pipe, and are rotated in opposite directions by separate electric motors (40a,40b). Each motor is mounted on an oscillating pivot (42a,42b) which lies parallel to a transverse axis of the pipe, while the pressure holding each brush against the inner wall of the pipe is provided by a spring (43a,43b). The brushes are pivoted to a cradle (32a,32b,32c) which an pivot about an axis parallel to the lengthwise axis of the pipe and rotated by an additional electric motor (24). ADVANTAGE - Leaves pipe surface clean enough to apply a layer of sealing material to it.
