The aim of the invention is to provide a method of producing free-flowing high-density granular surfactant material, the amount of liquid non-surfactant in the material not being a critical parameter in the production process. This aim is achieved by granulating and simultaneously drying a surfactant preparation containing a liquid non-surfactant component and which, at normal pressures and at temperatures between 20 and 40 DEG C, is in liquid to paste form. Optionally, the granulation and simultaneous drying can be carried out with the addition of an inorganic or organic solid. The granular surfactant material obtained by the method proposed has a bulk density of at least 500 g/l, preferably 550-1000 g/l.
