Complexes of radioactive Te (I) with a 1-aldoxime- or 2-(amino or thio)-1-aldoxime-substd. polyols or sugars (II) are new. (I) is pref. 99mTc and (II) pref. has the formula (a) or (b), R = a gp. of the formula (c), (d), (e), (f), (g). Prepn. where (I) is reacted with (II) in the presence of a reducing agent and a pH regulator at pH 5-8. Isolation of the complex is pref. by chromatography on a HPLC column contg. hydrophilic hydroxyl gps. using an aq.- organic eluent. The reducing agent is pref. sodium dithionite or a Sn(II) cpd. and the pH regulator is pref. a phosphate buffer when (I) is 99mTc or ammonia, an alkali hydroxide, hydrohalic acid or acetic acid when (I) is a 99Tc complex. Acetonitrile:water (1:1) is pref. used as the eluent. USE/ADVANTAGE - The complexes are water-soluble radiotracers useful for heart, brain and kidney imaging and for tumour diagnosis. The complexes have better organ retention than the 99mTc-GBT complex known from EP 77429 and are more stable and easier to prepare than the 99mTc complex with D-glucosazine known from Technetium and Rhenium in Chemistry and Nuclear Medicine 3, Cortina International, Verona 1990, 149-151.
