The method of attaching a cover to an upholstered base (3) especially in a vehicle, consists of inserting clips (18) which have barbed ends (25) through holes (10) in the upholstery. The clips are suspended from a tie-rod (15) fitting through the hole. A support (14) has a number of tie-rods corresponding to the clips being assembled, with, on their free-standing end (10), facing the upholstered base, holders (17) for the clips. The holders consists of two facing, star-shaped catches which can be turned. The tie-rod support can be removed by a control (4) between a front and back position. USE/ADVANTAGE - The upholstery cover can be attached quickly and easily.
