The invention relates to a conveyer belt and drive system. The endless non-extendable or extendable belt is driven by clamp driving units spaced along the length and is not limited by the longitudinal breaking load. Clamp driving units eliminate the breaking load problem in continuous extendable rubber conveyor belts with reinforcement of fabric, nylon fibres or steel wires. Drive can also be facilitated by electromagnetic drive units used either separately or together with the clamp drive units. Non-extendable belts may consist of plastic or rubber covered perforated metal sheet, strip or wires. An outer coating on the belt comprises household waste or old strips of rubber. Alternatively belts may be mfd. in thin metal. Standardized construction allows variable belt length. USE/ADVANTAGE - The clamp drive system is used to drive belts carrying loose particulate materials, can be used together with electromagnetic drive systems, eliminates longitudinal breaking load problems and with the belt has a standardised construction allowing variable len
