The current supply comprises a bolt (2) which changes into a tube; heat exchanging elements (9) are fitted outside the tube on the bolt (2) and also inside the tube (19). In the transition area (5) from bolt (2) to tube are provided connecting holes (15). The transition superconductor-normal conductor occurs in the bolt (2). The structure of the low-temperature current supply with heat exchanger for heavy currents makes it possible continuously to heat the current supply from below the transition temperature at its cold end to ambient temperature at its hot end without any ice formation in the region of the hot end. This eliminates the need for dry-gas-filled envelopes and expensive additional heating devices. The structure of such a current supply therefore remains simple and clear.
