An arrangement for investing flow processes contains a transparent capillary of small dimensions, an optical observation device and a pump for generating the volume flow in the capillary. The pump is a spring-elastically deformable pipe (30) closed at one end, filled with an incompressible liquid and connected to a deformation device. The pipe is subjected to a defined elastic bending which causes the liquid-filled inner volume to change. USE/ADVANTAGE - For performing microrheological investigations of particle suspensions. Enables high pressure and defined, disturbance-free volume flows to be generated inside measurement capillary, especially for measuring characteristics of individual viscro-elasticity and flow behaviour of deformable cells much as erythrocytes.
