Short-baseline interferometer for direction-finding by correlation

The interferometer has three antenna elements (1-3) arranged in a circle 120 deg. star configuration about the mast. At each operating frequency for a defined stepped azimuthal angle scan,theoretical and/or empirical phase value reference data sets are determined for each antenna element.The measured phases are correlated with these reference patterns, and the pattern region showing max. correlation is interpreted as an indicator of the direction of arrival (alpha zero) of signal.
