The IC engine has mechanical supercharging. The cylinders are located in a row, and have a common intake conduit. The mechanically driven supercharger (1) has a housing (2). This is formed integrally with the intake tube. The supercharger is pref. formed as a vane cell supercharger. Roots charger, or G-charger. The charger is pref. of the same length as the intake tube. The tube has at least one branch (4) per cylinder. The branches are in flow connection via connection tubes (5). The supercharger is driven by a V-belt drive (8). ADVANTAGE - Requires min. space and weight, low cost.
