An aq. impregnating compsn. comprises a stable microemulsion contg. 1-5 wt.% silicon surfactant, 3-12 wt.% polysiloxane and 0.05-1 wt.% of a silicon resin based on a hydrolysate of monoalkylchlorosilanes with an average mol. wt. of 1000-4000. Acid is pref. also present. The impregnating compsn. may be used with a second carrier component, e.g. an aq. phase contg. a silixoxane and algicide or an organic amine. USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsn. is useful for treating building material, e.g. natural stone to improve resistance to water and impurities in the air.
