Incompletely burnt ash is selected and sorted from the combustion chamber hoppers by scraper chain conveyors working in a water bath. The ash is selected to give float ash and wet ash (26 and 32).The float is floated off to the side for removal on a pulsating basis and the wet ash is discharged. The floats is sorted into specifically light and heavy fractions (38 and 31) so that the lighter product can be removed and the heavier returned to the scraper belt (1). USE/ADVANTAGE - Brown coal fuelled industrial furnaces. The wet ash is separated and the float ash sorted for recycling.
