<p>A fuel filter assembly (10) includes a retainer collar (16) for locking a disposable cartridge (14) to a base (12). The base and the retainer collar are configured with a pair of complementary spiral ramp-like structures (90,92;82,84). On rotation of the retainer collar, catches (86,88) provided on the collar ramp (82,84) engage in slots provided in the base ramp (90, 92) so as to lock the cartridge to the base.
