The flue gases contg. heavy metals at a temp. of ca. 120-240 deg C. are brought into contact with a water soln. of a water-soluble cpd., selected from phosphoric acids, phosphates, silicates and mixtures thereof, before the flue gases are submitted to particle separation. The cpds. can be chosen from orthophosphoric acid, under phosphoric acid, metaphosphoric acid, pyrophosphoric acid, and salts thereof. The flue gases are brought into contact with a finely distributed soln. of the cpd. which amounts to approximately 2-6 wt. %. based on the wt. of the solid material separated with the particle separator. After contact with the cpd., but before particle separation, the flue gases are brought into contact with a finely distributed lime slurry. |
