A warning light for the visual protection of hazard points is made such that it can be operated optionally using a solar-powered first power source and a second power source which is independent of the solar cells. In this case, preferably automatic electronic matching arrangements are provided for the terminal voltage and the optimum power supply from the two power sources for operation of the lamp. In addition, suitable measures can be provided in the warning light for an optimum light yield and light focusing. Furthermore, safety measures are to be provided to prevent components weighing more than 100 g being released from the light housing in the event of a hard impact of a vehicle.
