A picture storage circuit having a memory (2) for storing picture data (PD), and a counter (4) for counting clock signals (CLK) on receiving a so-called dot clock signal as a clock signal having a period corresponding to horizontal scanning time of each dot on the picture displayed on a display and for designating an address in the memory (2) according to the count. The counter (4) is reset on a vertical synchronizing signal (VD). Picture data (PD) equivalent to one field displayed on the display are sequentially stored in the memory (2).
