The present invention relates to an automatic system for surveillance of an air space in proximity to a land-based site, characterised in that it comprises: - a radar device (1) associated with a processing device (7) capable of eliminating the stationary echoes by comparing the position of the echoes detected during a current sweep with respect to their position during a previous sweep; - photographic means (11) which can move in rotation and in inclination, controlled by a central control unit (10) as a function of data delivered by the processing device (7), in order to ensure image tracking of a moving shape detected by the radar device (1).
