<p>The invention relates to an apparatus for automatically applying a cover element to a connector shell. The apparatus (10) comprises a slide (18) intended to drive cam means (26) which have the effect of sectioning (cutting off) a cover element (102) of an electrical connector shell (100), of bringing the cover element into alignment with a cavity for receiving the cover element, which cavity is located in the shell, and of fastening the cover element in this cavity, in a single movement (stroke) of the slide (18).
