In order to seal an air conditioning channel in case of fire, and to prevent flow of combustion gases and heat, a fire damper (10, Fig. 1) is provided and comprises a closing element 14b which is rotatable to close a passage in a frame (11, Fig 1) there being resilient sealing means 26 on the face of the closing element contacting the frame (11, Fig 1). A thermally expanding sealant 24 is provided on the frame where it contacts the resilient sealing means 26. The thermally expanding sealant 24 seals the passage when heated to a temperature which is lower than the melting point of the resilient sealing means 26. Disclosed also is a method for locking a fire damper in the event of a fire utilizing a thermally expanding sealant. <IMAGE> |
